This method is not recommended because it is less secure. That being said, let’s set up WordPress to use Gmail SMTP for sending emails. I have completed step 3 and the verification email has been sent to the address I fabricated for gmail. That request is now lost in space because I don’t have an SMTP server in azure. I was hoping a simple MX record (I manage the DNS in Azure) would suffice but I guess I have to build a SMTP server to handle this verification request.
